Great introduction for World Supermodel PNG

Spring Runway 2016 gave a great introduction to what would be a yearly event for the World Supermodel PNG.

This inaugural runway is the event to introduce pageant contestants for the two categories, teen and adult World Supermodel PNG.

Staged at the Lamana Hotel yesterday, the event was hailed a success by National Director Phylma Kelegai, as this year’s 13 contestants walked the runway, already considered as the longest runway in PNG and the Pacific.

“This is a great introduction. We put a lot of hard work into it but it was worth. The girls were very beautiful,” Phylma said.

The contestants are;

Annette Hortense Rondeau, Ayesha Gideon, Raylene Cherry Walter, Shannon Tarai and Glendah Charlyne Sanadah for the teen category, and Sheilla Yama, Shy-Ann Benson, Charleen Nonggor, Clementine Raka, Salome Tibola, Alexandra Chloe Hohoa, Sybil Marillyn Taule and Verna Seeto for the adult category.

This event is part of the judging phase which, according to judge Sylvia Pascoe, will continue to be assessed through to the crowning on February 18, 2017.

Judging also includes a variety of photoshoot sessions among which would be a bikini or resort wear shoot.

“The winner will be going to Macau in China so we have to get them well prepared for what an international platform would require,” Pascoe said.

The Spring Runway allowed contestants to a brief public speaking exposure, where a panel of judges; Sylvia Pascoe of Pascoe Promotions, Oliver Regondola of Silversoul studios and Margo Nugent of Lilly Magazine, judged contestants on their confidence, poise and mannerism.

The event also coincided with Lamana’s in-house 2016 Melbourne Cup extravaganza.

The 13 contestants and other models in the World Supermodel PNG modelling agency showcased six different collections from local fashion designers and houses: Betha Andamali, Linda Ohela, Jack’s of PNG (two collections), Anna Amos and Hazel Navaru.
