Injured Samoa Sevens player home in time for New Year?

Injured sevens player Francis Ieremia could be home in time for New Year.

He's been in hospital in Cape Town since breaking his leg during the second round of the World Sevens series, but his coach Damian McGrath is optimistic that he won't be there too much longer.

“At the moment we have a flight penciled in for December 27 which is between Christmas and New Year. It just depends on the surgeons on whether they give him the thumbs up to travel. At the moment he is on crutches and they got him out of bed and moving around which is great news. They were concerned about some swelling around the initial break which is responding to treatment. All the news at the moment is positive. And hopefully he is home to his family before the new year.

McGrath said it was quite a serious break and the fact that Ieremia  spent quite some time in hospital in South Africa indicates how serious the injury was.
