Latafale Auva’a is an Unassailable Dark Horse of Miss World 2015

Miss World is merely hours away and the exhilaration to witness Rolene Strauss’s successor as the novel Miss World is heating up.

While the world is speculating who shall be the next queen of the world, let’s put a spotlight on Miss World Samoa, Latafale Auva'a , who has cropped up as a pleasant surprise in the course of the journey.

Seeing a dark horse emerging as a tumultuous knight in the coronation night is not a new thing, be it Jamaica at Miss Universe 2014, USA in Miss World 2014 or India in Miss Supranational 2014, the dark horses come as a force to reckon with and ensnare the pageant enthusiasts all over the world in one single night, sweeping all the praise and accolades. It would not be wrong if we say, Samoa is the very probable dark horse of Miss World 2015. Miss World Samoa, Latafale Auva'a placed fifth at sports segment, was Top 13 in talent round, Top 30 in Top Model round and will also be performing at Dances of the World. As the results of other fastrack events are yet to be disclosed, these accolades are no less!

Latafale Auva'a, is an Otago University Scholarship student. She is in her fourth year of studying a double degree in Law and Music. A talented woman in academics and co-curricular activities, Latafale is a uniquely brilliant lady which the organization is witnessing this year. Latafale has a Samoan father and New Zealand European mother, as such she is extremely gregarious in befriending people branching off from diverse cultures. She believes that having a beautiful mind, spirit and carrying yourself well define beauty. The 21 years old is the first woman to hold four Pacific regional titles as the reigning Miss Samoa New Zealand, Miss Samoa, Miss Pacific Islands and Miss World Samoa.

A vigorous personage, Latafale is a skilled musician, playing a variety of instruments, and is a cutthroat touch rugby player, winning gold and silver medals in the sport at the 2015 Pacific Games. Latafale is also in the New Zealand National Youth Choir and the musical director of her local church. She just loves to get involved in as many musical ventures as possible. Looking at the passion she holds for music and rugby, her high placement at sports and talent fastrack events does not sound astounding! She might even end up winning the Talent Round in whole!

Placing at Top Model round decides a lot of significant paces in advance, and her placement in this round guarantees that she is one to watch for! Working in a Samoan Tourism company has made her quite amicable, extrovert and affable, and she is spreading smiles wherever she goes! Latafale owns a strong personality and considers Martin Luther King as her inspiration. He has encouraged her in all walks of life and taught her how to inspire people for a greater cause.

Before Latafale headed to Miss World pageant, she narrated in an interview that she is extremely confident about sports and talent fastrack rounds, and here she is, fifth at sports and top 13 in the talent round! Her determination was quite evident prior to her onset to the pageant, and has only augmented as she has arrived in Sanya!

When asked why did she chose Miss World as an integral part of her life, the beaming diva added: “I see Miss World as a platform, not only to showcase my nation but to empower the idea that beauty has a purpose. True beauty is in the humility of character and kindness of heart and Miss World provides an incredible opportunity to affirm the identity of young women on a global spectrum and also to creatively serve under privileged communities internationally. A job I would zealously undertake.”

Samoa started participating at Miss World in 1977 and withdrew in 1989. It returned back to the pageant in 2013 and withdrew again in 2014. No Samoan delegate has placed in Miss World ever. With that commanding presentation, Latafale Auva'a has guaranteed a placement for Samoa in the coming hours, but how high she will soar, only time will tell!
