Manu Samoa coach confident of his training squad

Manu Samoa head coach, Namulauulu Alama Ieremia says he is extremely happy with the players selected to take on Georgia next month.

"I’m really glad I got all the guys that were available to come and join us. There are a few others that will come by later on but their leagues are still running so they won’t be able to join us yet," said Ieremia.

The new head coach's main focus is rebuilding the Manu Samoa and letting go of the memories of last year's performance in the World Cup.

One notable aspect of his rebuilding efforts is the inclusion of two young names in the training squad.

"Elia Elia and Deangelo Leuila are two of our greatest hopefuls for the Manu Samoa squad and after their performance in the U-20s championships they played in, I see they can become really good players for the Manu," said Ieremia.

"There’s no denying the poor result from last year, but this is new year, and a new beginning and especially with the new team now. We're going to build a better team and we've accomplished the first part of that by recruiting world class coaches that will assist with the team," he added.

"The biggest challenge now is to please the country as they watch their team perform because no country wants to watch a team that keeps losing. And it’s important to build a Manu Samoa that Samoa can look at and say that's a team we want to look at," he added.

Ieremia and his newly selected management will announce the Manu Samoa team to play Georgia in the next week.

The training squad has seen a few veteran players such as Faatoina Autagavaia, Patrick Faapale, Alafoti Faosiliva, and Tusi Pisi come together once more.
