Samoa Victim Support president gets backing in court

Dozens of supporters of the Samoa Victim Support Group have packed the District Court in Apia today to support the organisation's president, Siliniu Lina Chang.

The president and two other women are facing a charge of attempting to defeat the course of justice.

The charges were brought following an inquiry after a police assault case was withdrawn three years ago.

A senior police officer, who has been suspended, had been charged separately in relation to the same case, but the prosecution wants both cases heard together.
