Samoan 7s team ready for another great battle with Fiji

The Samoan 7s team is ready for another great battle with the Vodafone Fiji side in the Vancouver 7s this weekend.

Fiji and Samoa have been drawn in the same pool for the third straight tournament but Samoa won 28‑24 when the Pacific rivals met in the pool stages of the Las Vegas 7s last weekend.

Coach Damian McGrath said the time for excuses are over and it is not good for them to score great tries and still commit basic errors.

Samoa did not qualify for the Cup quarterfinals in Las Vegas despite their win over Fiji.

They won the Shield.

McGrath is hoping they will be able to pull off another victory against the Las Vegas champions and eventually reach the quarterfinals this weekend.

Fiji will take on Samoa at 6.14am Sunday.

They will then face Portugal at 9.50am before taking on Kenya at 2pm Sunday in the Vancouver 7s.

The Cup quarterfinals start at 7.08am next Monday, the semifinals will be at 11.08am Monday while the Cup final will be held at 2pm next Monday.
