Samoa Toa hip-hop dance crew proud despite results

A Samoan hip-hop dance crew has created a stir being the first team to represent the country and the Pacific at the World Hip Hop competition in the United States.

The group is proud to be selected to participate in the global arena.

“We competed in the toughest division in HHI Megacrew and we’re proud to say that as newbies in the competition regardless the sad result, we’re still happy we were able to beat at least eight professional crews with be international experience in hip hop,” said Samoa Toa leader, Numia Inu Viliamu.

“Well to be honest, stepping foot on the actual stage, the stage we have watched for years from Samoa was an unreal experience and to be able to represent our country on a worldly scale is just not easy.”

“But we stuck to the mentality which is to make our people proud which we hope we did. We couldn’t ask for anything more,” said Viliamu.

The team came in 47th place out of 55 international groups.

Samoa Toa members later participated in dance workshops before returning home.

“This is one of the most important part of our tour, to gain knowledge and exposure to the best of the best,” Viliamu said.
