Deal reached in Samoa for local Pacific Games coverage

A deal has been struck to allow news from the Pacific Games to be broadcast in Samoa.

The local journalists' association had complained that restrictions placed on local TV stations had made news coverage unfeasible.

Local stations were being charged US$750 for three minutes of daily content.

On Wednesday, the Pacific Games Office said a deal had been struck between TV3 Samoa and local broadcasters, giving all local broadcasters free access to the daily highlights.

Live coverage will continue to be on TV3.
