Israel Dagg takes his personality and rugby know-how into broadcasting

Recently retired All Black Israel Dagg has been quick to snap up a new career, moving into broadcasting and staying close to rugby.

Dagg, the 66-test veteran who stepped away from the game earlier this month because of a persistent knee problem, has joined Sky Sport.

Sky rugby fans can look forward to seeing the former Magpies, Highlanders, Crusaders and All Blacks fullback and wing a lot more on Sky Sport

The witty and insightful Dagg will be a regular panellist on Thursday night's Kick-off with Kirstie Stanway from April 25.

Dagg will also feature in Sky rugby match build-ups, post matches and will help generate stories for Sky rugby shows.

Dagg said he was "pumped" to have secured the two-year deal in what he described as the "next chapter" of his sporting life.

In announcing the hiring, Sky director of sport, Tex Teixeira said: "Israel Dagg is a great person and legend of the game, he is also recognised worldwide and loved by kiwis. We are really excited at the opportunity we have to work with Israel and look forward to creating exciting new content for all fans".

This week Dagg opened up on his mental health struggles as he battled with missing out on the 2015 World Cup in England, having been part of the 2011 Cup-winning team in New Zealand.

He urged Kiwi men to be more open with the pressure problems.

Dagg's career covered both islands from 2006-18, playing 50 matches for the Hawke's Bay Magpies, 25 games for the Highlanders and 89 games for the Crusaders.
