Zane Hilton is new General Manager of High Performance for Samoa rugby

Samoa Rugby Union has announced the appointment of Zane Hilton as the new General Manager High Performance.

Chief Executive Officer Faleomavaega Vincent Fepuleai welcomed Hilton's appointment, which followed a wide search to recruit for the newly vacated position. "If we are to realise our goal of developing locally based players, who make up the majority of our national teams, and then to be successful on the international stage, then we need someone of Zane's experience to help us achieve that," Faleomavaega said.

A statement said Hilton brings with him 11 years of professional rugby coaching and have been acknowledged as an exceptional leader who has a passion for driving high standards from both players and staff. He is driven towards continuing to learn and develop within a professional rugby environment, increasing his ability to ensure that each individual and team under his care are developed to their potential, and in doing so, meet their short and long-term aspirations, whilst ensuring these are in line with those of the organisation.

“I am very excited about the appointment and am very keen to work closely with the Staff and Players of SRU to assist them to reach their full potential," Hilton said.

"I believe in creating a learning environment that encourages strong character traits and develops accountability in both the individual and the team by providing a clear vision for the group using a collaborative approach, generated by gaining “buy in” from all members, striving to achieve the common goal. I believe that my ability to build relationships is key in achieving this goal."
