First ever sub-degree programme offered by Pacific TAFE in Samoa

The University of the South Pacific campus in Samoa is offering the first sub-degree programme, the Professional Diploma of Business Management, under the leadership of Dr Desmond Amosa.

Students of the programme are working professionals seeking the skills to take their careers to the next level.

Classes, will run in the evenings to accommodate work schedules.

Hasmukh Lal, Chief Executive Officer of USP Pacific TAFE said that “expansion of delivery of these programmes to Samoa has been a priority for some time but it was vital to get the right personnel on board, with Dr Amosa in place we can be assured of the high standard of delivery that we need to maintain in all of our courses.”

Hamish McCracken, Head of College of Business and Commerce at Pacific TAFE said, “it is a great start to our sub-degree delivery with one of the most popular qualifications, but it is only a start. Next month, we will fly in Roger Goodman a project management expert from New Zealand to deliver the Certificate IV in Project Management, sponsored by SPC.”

He added that he is hopeful for other programmes to be delivered in Samoa soon.

“I am hopeful that we can follow this up with some other specialised programmes that are hard to access from the Pacific; both the Professional Diploma in Public Sector Management and the Professional Diploma in Procurement and Supply would be great options for Samoan professionals looking to upskill,” he said.
