Junior Niupulusu helps community through social media

The owner of online trading company, Traders Mecca Samoa has come to the assistance of a ten year old student by helping pay for her education at St. Joan of Arc Primary School.

Junior Niupulusu, 28, uses Facebook to operate his business where people buy and sell their products.

“Many use social media negatively, but they miss out on the opportunities it gives us. TMS is just one way we can utilize social media for a positive cause,”Niupulusu said.

The sponsorship for Savelina Posiiulai of Vailele also came from Kingz Automotive Service Ltd in New Zealand, who donated one hundred tala and Business Systems Limited donated one hundred tala gift voucher.

“We don’t reap any benefits from running the marketing group, and we don’t intend to start charging people. We just want to help out and TMS is going to do a lot more than just sponsoring one child’s bills. We want to be able to reach a further and wider part of the community,” he said.

Traders Mecca Samoa also sponsored $15,000 WST worth of scholarships for Anoamaa College in its collaboration with PELE Resolutions Facilitators.

“I don’t really get anything out of the work I do. I do it to help the community and that’s what TMS is for, my contribution to the community,”Niupulusu said.

“There was always people posting and asking to sell products on their private pages and I saw they didn’t get any traction at all, so I figured maybe that will be my part in giving back. In the last year we have partnered up with some big businesses and we recently had Netvo Samoa hop on board, so things are looking up,” he said.

“I don’t see myself as a businessman. I’m just a guy who wants to help the community and that’s all there is to it,” he said.

It’s this motive that has attracted the attention of many successful businesses to want to work with Niupulusu and his family.

TMS will celebrate its first anniversary in April.

In less than a year, the group has gathered more than 23,000 members and it continues to grow.

Niupulusu’s team consists of two other members, Joyetter Feagaimaalii, and Jr Nah Folasa, all of whom share the same view of giving back. The hope is that the next gift they give out, would help educate or bless a bigger group in Samoa.
