Macintameletiura Tuaimua scoops FALE award at USP

Macintameletiura Tuaimua of Samoa has been awarded the Faculty of Arts, Law and Education (FALE) Dean’s Award for the 2017 Most Outstanding First Year Student Award at The University of the South Pacific’s (USP) Laucala Campus.

The award is for students who have performed exceptionally well during their first year of study at USP.

Tuaimua is completing her Bachelor of Arts majoring in Sociology and Psychology with a GPA of 4.25.

Dr Akanisi Kedrayate, Dean FALE congratulated Tuaimua and another colleague for their achievements including their lecturers and respective Heads of School for assisting them reach their goals.

The award is an important, annual one for the Faculty to acknowledge the hard work and perseverance students went through in the first year of their academic journey.

Mr Kapil Nadan, First Year Event (FYE) Coordinator explained that the first year of university life is always the most difficult and challenging year for students as this builds the foundation of a student’s academic success.

The elated recipients were further encouraged by Dr Kedrayate to aim to get gold medals after completion of their programme.

Professor Richard Coll, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Learning, Teaching and Student Services) presented the awards to the recipients.
