Man charged over murder of teen in Samoa

One of five men arrested in connection with a drug bust in Samoa has been charged with the murder of a 15 year old boy.

The suspect as well as the other four men have been charged in connection with drug-related offences.

Samoa Police say the teenager, Uili Uili of Satapuala Village was reported missing since 9 January 2018 by his family.

Uili’s family requested police assistance and indicated to them that he is suspected to have been a victim of a drug related incident.

During investigations police confirmed the existence of marijuana plantations and possible high-powered weapons.

The information received during the preliminary investigation lead to the execution of a Search Warrant at Satapuala Thursday evening.

As a result of the police search, close to 200 plants and loose marijuana leaves were seized.

The street value of the seized drugs is more than $100,000 tala.

Police also seized an illegal weapon and ammunitions associated with the cultivation of marijuana plants.

More marijuana plants and possible high power military ammunitions were seized.

Police said a number of booby traps installed in the area were also removed by their officers.

A total of 5 suspects are now under police custody.

Police are also seeking the public’s help to contact the police if they have any further information in relation to this homicide case.
