Pig head thrower Talelei Pauga charged in Samoa

The man who threw a pig’s head and dog food at the Samoan Prime Minister, Talalelei Pauga, has been charged in Apia.

The Ministry of Justice and Courts Administration’s Assistant CEO, Ve’atauia Fa’atasi Puleiata, has confirmed to the Samoa Observer that Pauga, who is from Australia, has been charged under Samoa’s immigration laws.

He is accused of giving false information on his arrivals declaration form, during his current visit.

“Pauga is charged with giving false information. Its alleged he lied on his declaration form,” said Ve’atauia.

Pauga is scheduled to appear in Court on 5 March, 2019.

Asked when was the last time anyone was charged under this act, the ACEO said: "I don’t recall, the last time, if ever anyone was charged under this act.”

Pauga was the man who threw the pig's head and dog food towards the Prime Minister Tuilaepa Dr Sailele Malielegaoi in Australia last year.

He denied it was an attack on the Prime Minister, saying his protest was strategically planned to let Tuilaepa know he cannot call Samoans “stinking pigs” and “dogs.
