Samoa's District Court has been asked to consider the status of the paramount title Malietoa to be bestowed on Faamausili Moli, before passing sentence on the 22nd of June.
Faamausili has been found guilty of being armed with a dangerous weapon, throwing an object and using insulting words as a result of a complaint lodged with police by one of his brothers.
It stemmed from a quarrel between Faamausili and the complainant, Papalii Titi at a family meeting last year.
In her submission, the defence lawyer applied for the court to discharge her client without conviction which would allow Faamausili to avoid having a criminal record.
The prosecution is supporting the submission and asked the court to consider the offences were at the low level of the scale
The court was also asked to consider two civil cases pending in the Supreme Court where the defendant's nephew, Papalii Malietau, is seeking an ex parte decision to become the administrator of the assets belonging to the late Malietoa Tanumafili II.
The defence lawyer told the court the late Malietoa is the father of Faamausili, who is alive with other sisters and brothers.
In the other case, the same nephew and Papalii Titi are seeking damages of 20 thousand US dollars from Faamausili and his wife for loss and suffering.
