Samoa gets extra 100 meat processing jobs under RSE scheme

Samoa has been given one hundred more jobs this year under the seasonal scheme in New Zealand for meat processing.

This is in addition to the 150 jobs for Samoans every year since the RSE programme started.

The liaison officer for Samoa's RSE workers in New Zealand, Lemalu Nele Leilua, said the additional jobs are a big boost and her job is to make sure the workers follow the rules.

She said alcohol has been a key factor behind the deportation of some workers.

Lemalu also has told a gathering of the RSE employees on Monday that extra marital affairs while away from home cannot be tolerated.

She said in some cases the affairs are attempts to get permanent residence in New Zealand.

Most of the RSE job offers for meat processors are from Silver Fern Farms in New Zealand.
