Samoa public servant arrested for abusing hotel workers

A senior public servant in Samoa has been arrested for verbally abusing hotel workers on Savai'i.

Lupeomanu Pelenato Fonoti, who is in charge of the quarantine division at the agriculture ministry, will appear in court on 30 July.

However, the Samoa Observer reported that an investigation has also been opened into how the police at Asau handled the complaint against him.

Lupeomanu claims the officer in charge of the station is the husband of the hotel where the incident took place, and that officers were unprofessional.
