Samoa rolls out compulsory mass measles vaccination campaign

The Samoa Ministry of Health has implemented a compulsory Mass Vaccination Campaign as part of efforts to control the spread and adverse effects of the Measles Epidemic.

The campaign has prioritized certain vulnerable age groups in Upolu and Savaii.

The Ministry is urging people in the prioritized age groups who are at high risk, to be vaccinated.

These include all children aged 6 months - 19 years and non-pregnant females only aged 20 to 35 years.

The Measles Vaccination Programme will be available at these health facilities at the designated dates and time slots:

Upolu

• The Tupua Tamasese Meaole Hospital (TTMH), Immunization Clinic located at the TTMH Emergency Department, Monday to Friday from 8am – 8pm and Saturdays 8am – 1pm.
• Samoa Family Health Association, Opposite the Hospital - Motootua: Monday to Friday from 8am – 8pm and Saturdays 8am – 1pm.
• Wellness and Youth Friendly Service (Old Diabetic Clinic) at Matagialalua, Eleele Fou, from Monday to Friday at 9:00am to 5:00pm.
• Rural District Hospitals: (Leulumoega, Poutasi, Lalomanu) and Community Health Centres (Faleolo, Lufilufi, Saanapu) from Monday to Friday from 8:00am to 8pm
• Mobile Service Unit at the Samoa Red Cross Compound, Tuanaimato from Monday to Friday from 8am - 5pm.

Savaii

• The Malietoa Tanumafili II Hospital (MTIIH) at Tuasivi. The Immunisation Clinic is located at the MTIIH emergency department, Monday to Friday from 8am – 8pm and Saturdays 8am – 1pm.
• Rural District Hospitals (Sataua, Safotu, Foailalo) and Community Health Centre (Satupaitea), Monday to Friday from 8am – 8pm
