Warning in Samoa over social media speculation on killing

Samoa Police have issued a warning against people posting threatening statements or speculations after a man died following an alleged beating.

Young government civil engineer, Jeremiah Malaki Tauili'ili, died early last Saturday.

Police said at this point no arrests had been made but investigations are continuing.

In a statement police said there had been a lot of speculation on social media but they were warning the public not to take the law into their own hands.

They have warned that threats to anyone or damage to properties as a result of such actions is a criminal offence.
