Andy Ruiz Jr keen for rematch with Joseph Parker

The man who stunned the heavyweight boxing world three weeks ago has indicated he'd welcome the chance to avenge his 2016 defeat to Joseph Parker.

Mexican-American Andy Ruiz Jr has been paraded through his hometown of Imperial Valley, California, after his shock win over Anthony Joshua.

When asked about potential opponents beyond his rematch with the Brit, Ruiz didn't shy away from the Kiwi.

"I'd like to fight him [Joseph Parker], after we get the fight I have first," Ruiz told media during a victory parade at the weekend.

"I never look past an opponent that I have. Right now, I'm just focused on getting the results that I got in the last fight in the rematch and remain the Mexican heavyweight champion of the world."

Parker is the only man to beat Ruiz in 33 fights, edging him in a close majority decision to claim the WBO heavyweight title in 2016.

The Kiwi will fight Australian-Samoan boxer Alex Leapai this Sunday (NZT) in Providence, Rhode Island.
