Parker towers over Mayweather

As he prepares for the biggest fight of his boxing career, Joseph Parker has been rubbing shoulders with one of the greats - albeit with a height difference to negotiate.

The Kiwi heavyweight has been welcomed into the camp of Floyd Mayweather Jr, who is getting ready for a big fight of his own, against Mixed Martial Arts star Conor McGregor.

Mayweather quit boxing in September 2015, with a 49-0 record, but has come out of retirement to fight McGregor, who has a 21-3 MMA record and is notorious for his trash talk.

Mayweather was not the tallest man, though renowned for his reach across the various fly, light and welterweight classes in which he has fought. He was 173cm tall compared with Joseph Parker who measured in at 193cm.

Parker is one week into an eight-week training camp in Las Vegas, as he prepares to fight Hughie Fury in Manchester on September 23.

The fight was originally scheduled to take place in Auckland in May, but Fury withdrew just two weeks out, citing a back injury.

Fury is the mandatory challenger for Parker's WBO heavyweight title, which he won by defeating Mexican Andy Ruiz in Auckland last December.

Mayweather and McGregor are set to fight in Las Vegas on August 26.

Parker isn't the only heavyweight to have met with Mayweather recently.

Anthony Joshua, the Brit who is considered the king of the heavyweight division, paid a visit to Mayweather's gym last weekend.

Joshua's most recent fight was a win over Wladimir Klitschko in April, that meant he added the WBA and IBO titles to the IBF one he already held.
