Australian actor Chris Hemsworth announces career break to spend time with family

 Fresh from 12 months of back-to-back filming, Hemsworth told The Daily Telegraph that he wanted to spend more time with his family.

"This year I probably won't shoot anything," he said. "I just want to be at home now with my kids."

Hemsworth, 35 has three children with his wife, Spanish actress Elsa Pataky: seven-year-old daughter India Rose and five-year-old twins Sasha and Tristan.

The family live in Byron Bay, having relocated from Los Angeles in 2014.

Explaining his time out, Hemsworth said that his children were "at a very important age".

The Thor star posted an Instagram video of himself and a friend picking up US musician Scott Hildebrand in Brisbane, who had just arrived from Mexico.

"Picked up a hitchhiker, wasn't a serial killer which we were stoked about," Hemsworth wrote.

One commenter on the post branded Hemsworth a "true Aussie champion" for his hospitality.

Hemsworth and his friend Luke Zocchi spotted the musician after arriving in the eastern city of Brisbane, and decided to offer him a lift.

"Little does he know we're getting a chopper," Zocchi says.
