Pools and schedule announced for HSBC Paris Sevens

With Australia leading arch rivals New Zealand by just four points in the women’s standings, and Fiji only seven points clear of South Africa at the top of the men’s standings it promises to be a thrilling finale to the series with both titles very much all still to play for.

The men’s pool draw sees series leaders Fiji in a tough group with third placed New Zealand, Kenya and Samoa in Pool A. South Africa who are hot on the heels of Fiji have been drawn to play Canada, Russia and Scotland.

Excitement builds as draw made for Hong Kong Sevens

The pools were announced for all three tournaments at a special draw in Hong Kong on Monday.

The Cathay Pacific/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens will take place on 7-9 April at the Hong Kong Stadium with England the top seeds after beating South Africa in the gold medal match at the HSBC Canada Sevens in Vancouver on Sunday.

Simon Amor's team, who also won in Cape Town, will play Australia, Samoa and invitational side Korea in Pool A in Hong Kong, while South Africa, who lead the series standings after six rounds, will meet Canada, Kenya and France in Pool B.

Pool draw made for Sydney Sevens

The draw for the next stop on the series was made at the end of the HSBC Wellington Sevens, which was won by South Africa who beat Fiji, 26-5 at the Westpac Stadium.

The Blitzboks are drawn in Pool A with England, Kenya and Japan. 

Olympic and Sevens Series champions Fiji top Pool B with France, Wales and Samoa. 

After an impressive performance in the second round, where they finished with bronze, Scotland will play hosts Australia, New Zealand and invitational team Papua New Guinea.

Draw made for Wellington Sevens

The draw for the next stop on the series was made at the end of the HSBC Cape Town Sevens, which was won by England after a dramatic final against South Africa. 

Cape Town winners England are drawn in Pool A with Kenya, Argentina and invitational team Papua New Guinea. 

Dubai winners South Africa, who were narrowly beaten by England in Cape Town, are in a very tough Pool B, where they will face Olympic champions Fiji, Australia and Japan.  

Draw announced for HSBC Singapore Sevens

Hong Kong Cup winners Fiji head up pool A and will face England, Samoa and Portugal, while Hong Kong's beaten finalists New Zealand will play USA, France and Canada in pool B.

South Africa will play Kenya, Scotland and Russia in pool C and in the fourth of the pools Australia will face Wales, Argentina and Japan.

After seven rounds of the series Fiji have stretched out to a five-point lead at the top of the HSBC, now ahead of New Zealand who are one point clear of third-placed South Africa. Australia and USA remain fourth and fifth travelling on to Singapore.
