Chinese doctors perform eye surgeries in Samoa

It's the fourth year of specialist assistance from Guangdong province.

Three ophthalmology specialists and a nurse provided free cataract surgery to patients at the Apia National Hospital in Moto'otua.

They also presented medical equipment and medicine to the National Health Service.

They were led by the Deputy Director of the Zhongshan Ophthalmology Center at Sun Yat-sen University.

Eye specialists from China provide free eye surgeries in Samoa

The team comprising of more than 20 specialists also donated equipment for the National Health Services Eye Clinic.

More than 30 patients have completed successful operations.

The visit is part of the city sisterhood agreement inked in 2015 between the Samoa Government and the Huizhou Municipal Government, Guangdong Province in the People’s Republic, according to the Ministry of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
