Samoa Police and Prisons officers undergo Motorcyclist and Defensive training

Twenty officers were selected to be a part of the training, with the first ten members to begin training and assessments for the next two weeks.

The training was opened by Commissioner Auapa’au Logoitino Filipo yesterday, with the executive members present.

Commissioner Auapa’au expressed his gratitude to the Fiji Police Forces' Acting Commissioner, Juki Fong Chew, for allowing the training officers to travel to Samoa and offering assistance to SPPCS.

Fiji Police awaits victim’s statement on assault by former Fijian Drua

Habosi is alleged to have assaulted his partner two weeks ago.

According to Police, they are still awaiting a statement from the victim before further action can be taken.

The Drua sacked Habosi last week with immediate effect due to a high-level breach of the club’s Code of Conduct.

According to a club statement, the decision was made after careful consideration.

     

Former Fijian Drua, Vinaya Habosi yet to be charged

It is alleged that Habosi assaulted his partner and she lodged a Police complaint.

According to Police, the investigation is still ongoing and the victim has yet to provide a medical report.

Investigators are awaiting the report.

Fiji's second-ranking police officer quits a day after security move announced

The Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho announced on Friday that Abdul Khan had resigned due to "personal reasons".

"I have accepted his resignation after the decision was reached on mutual understanding, and respect his decision to resign from the organisation."

He said promotions had already been made.

On Thursday, Qiliho said the move to deploy the military was a joint decision with the commander of Fiji's military forces, Major General Jone Kalouniwai.

Extra 1500 police on duty for Fiji election

Police Commissioner, Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho, said a further 1500 police officers have been deployed to assist the Fiji Elections Office today.

Qiliho said the Force has invested in geotracking equipment (GPS) to assist with operations.

"We have also invested in the use of technology, where we are aware where our specific vehicles are located at any particular time," added Qiliho

Three Fiji police charged for pouring boiling water on man

The incident happened when the suspect was being interrogated at the Navua police station earlier this week, where the victim sustained serious burns to much of their body.

On Tuesday, the police in a statement said three constables had been charged with one count each of commiting an act intended to cause grievous harm.

Benedito Bolabiu, Laisenia Naiwau, and Lasaro Turagadrau appeared in court on Wednesday, where they were granted bail.

The police said further charges were being considered.

     

Fiji man dies after police beating

The 26-year-old was allegedly beaten outside a nightclub in Suva on the 2nd of September.

He died of his injuries in hospital on Thursday.

Fiji's police commander, Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho, says he's ordered the criminal investigations department to investigate.

He did not say whether the accused officers were known, or whether they were still working.
