Motorola Razr flip phone revived with foldable screen

The new device features a 6.2in screen which folds together when closed, with another, smaller screen to display notifications on its outer shell.

The device will be sold for $1,500, starting in the US on 26 December, with other markets coming later.

Analysts told the BBC they did not expect the device to have much impact on the global smartphone sales.

Motorola is creating displays that repair on their own after breaking

And as humans can’t self-heal all the injuries, the case of the electronic devices Motorola is talking about is the same. According to a new patent (US 2017/0228094 A1)  published, while it could still be an idea, the company is hoping to come up with an electronic device featuring a screen that could repair the cracks on its own.

Get ready to flip: Motorola could be bringing back the Razr

It has been 12 years since Motorola released the Razr V3 and now the company is hinting at a comeback. In a new video, high school kids straight out of a Nickelodeon teen drama obsessively text on flip phones, probably about Ashlee Simpson and Myspace.

The only other information Motorola shared was the line, “Flip back to the Razr days of yesteryear and get ready for the future.” What does that mean? It’s not clear! But you better practice your T9 skills just in case flip phones come back in style.

The end of Motorola smartphones

Lenovo, which bought the Motorola phone business from Google in 2014, is phasing out the Motorola brand for its phones.

Motorola is widely credited as the first company to produce a mobile phone, and it was a leading brand a decade ago.
