The victim was living with the defendant and his wife and attended a church college in Apia where the first offence took place.

The police said other offences took place in a village on Savaii Island where the defendant and his wife had been serving.

The victim became pregnant and gave birth to two children as a result.

The defendant has been stripped of all his church positions and duties.

The court was told that the man impregnated his daughter three times between 2010 and 2013.

The victim, the eighth of the man's children, was only 17 years old when the abuse began.

He will be sentenced next Monday.

Paul Leighton, 32, from Seaham, County Durham, created up to 40 fake Facebook profiles to befriend teenagers in the UK, Canada, the US and Australia.

He tricked them into sending him naked selfies, then blackmailed them into abusing young relatives.

He had earlier admitted a total of 21 offences at Newcastle Crown Court.

The court heard one 14-year-old from Florida was tricked into believing he was talking to a girl, then blackmailed into repeatedly raping his one-year-old niece.

The warning came as a 53 year old man was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment for raping a relative.

The victim was 12 years old when the offense was committed in the accused’s home in 2015.

The accused, who has six children, was found guilty and sentenced by Justice Tafaoimalo Leilani Tuala-Warren this week.

The court heard the victim was raped twice in the home.

The accused was described as caring and humble, supportive of his family and active in their village matters.

She had been to the Oscars where a film she had helped to produce had been nominated.

But in 2008, this all came to a halt. One Saturday afternoon, while hiking in Northern Ireland, she was raped.

She says it is something she will never forget and the emotional impact stays with her.

She told the BBC: "It was awful. It went from one day, being the person I'd always been, to the next - I felt like I was gutted like a fish, unable to feel any joy or hope.

"My insides were torn out. I was a shell of the person I'd been before."

But that's what Icelandic author and journalist Thordis Elva has done with her former high school boyfriend who raped her when she was 16 after a school Christmas party.
