Samoa raises the bar in Pacific Games broadcasting

Among the firsts is the announcement that for the first time in Games history SKY New Zealand will be joining established Games partners EMTV, Fiji TV, France TV and Vanuatu TV for the Host Broadcast.

“We are excited to announce that for the first time in Games history SKY New Zealand will be joining established Games partners EMTV, Fiji TV, France TV and Vanuatu TV, who have contributed significant equipment and crew to ensure we get live coverage from six (6) venues simultaneously,” said Falefata Hele Matatia, CEO of Pacific Games Office.

New TV plans for Digicel

Customers should expect a 60-channel bundle on the Digicel TV terrestrial service in and around Port Moresby, and 60 & 80 channel bundles plus two special add-on packs on the Digicel TV Satellite service which covers the whole of Papua New Guinea. 

The new channel line-up includes FOX, HBO, Cartoon Network, Fox Sports, MTV, Discovery as well as Digicel TV’s exclusive coverage of the Hunters, NRL, English Premier League soccer, Super Rugby and more.

Blood clot deaths tied to hours of daily TV time

There are more than 200,000 cases of pulmonary embolism, which usually begins as a blood clot in the leg that travels to the lung, in the U.S. each year, according to the National Library of Medicine. It can permanently damage lung tissue, other organs, or cause death, but many people who have it have no symptoms.

Pulmonary embolism is less common in Japan than in Western countries, said study coauthor Dr. Hiroyasu Iso, professor of public health at Osaka University Graduate School of Medicine, but Japanese people are becoming increasingly sedentary.
