Fiji's opposition NFP suspended

Fiji's Registrar of Political Parties has suspended the opposition National Federation Party for contravening the Political Parties Decree 2013.

FBC News said the suspension was for 30 days with immediate effect.

The NFP provided its 2013-2014 Annual Audited Accounts to the Registrar, which was published in the Fiji Sun on November 13th.

FBC News said the accounts were not audited by an accountant certified by the Fiji Institute of Accountants.

The decision came as the NFP was considering pulling out of parliament, saying it was hamstrung in its ability to carry out its functions by restrictions and a lack of resources,

The NFP has three seats in the 50-member parliament.
