Indian woman, son amongst people arrested in police drug raid

An Indian woman and his teenage son are amongst the four people arrested by police during the raid at a family resident at Afiamalu last Thursday.

The other two include a 45 year old man and the 26 year old daughter of a business woman.

The 42 year old Indian woman was a sponsored employee of the Samoan business woman and now works for the woman’s daughter who is also held by police in the raid.

The Ministry of Police spokesperson Superintendent Su’a Muliaga Tiumalu said all three adults will appear in Court on this Thursday 6th August 2015 while the teenage boy’s case is referred to the Youth Court for mention.

All three are already charged with possession of drugs and police are yet to finalise their investigation on possession of unlawful weapons.

Su’a said there are holding charges which include utensils used to consume and manufacture drugs.

Weapons found in the raid include a sniper gun and a 45 semi-automatic pistol.

Also confiscated was cash amounting to more than $30,000 (US$11,545) that include foreign currencies.

Drugs found on the property were marijuana and methamphetamine.

Police also seized a black truck belonging to the 26 year old woman.

Su’a said the operation was successfully executed after police received a tip.

In a separate case where an ex-US military man is charged with the possession of unlawful weapons, the police also acted on a tip from an informer which prompted the search of a container where gun magazines, ammunition and drugs were allegedly found.

Scientific tests to determine the type of drug found in the container are yet to be finalised.
