Forecasters in Samoa are warning a tropical cyclone is likely to develop within the next 24 to 36 hours.
The country's meteorological service says a tropical disturbance is developing about 650 kilometres northwest of Savai'i, and 750 kilometres northwest of the capital, Apia.
A spokesperson said the system was slowly moving southeast towards Samoa and was likely to intensify into a category one cyclone sometime this afternoon.
The office said there was a risk of flooding in Samoa, and small craft and fishing boats should avoid going out into very rough seas.
