Toa Samoa train on squad trials to begin in March for RLWC

The Rugby League World Cup kicks off in October and Rugby League Samoa President, Tagaloa Faafouina Su’a says the Toa Samoa team will be putting on the best Samoa can offer come tournament time.

“Right now were just evaluating and looking at players. I can’t say who will be playing because that’s the coach’s decision independently. He selects the players to go,” said Su’a.

“We start trials next month. Towards the end of March we’ll have a fair idea of who we got on our list, but then again I can’t confirm who will be in the train on squad. It’s all up to the coach himself,” he added.

Meanwhile, Samoa’s favorite rugby league wing, Daniel Vidot has announced a return to rugby league meaning a chance to put on the Blue jersey for Samoa.

Su’a says the opportunity for players to be in the train on squad is always there. However, he understands that the coach’s decisions will base heavily on the players ability and state of fitness.

“We may know the answer later when Matt (Parish) picks his guys available to play. We won’t fail to let the country know who will be playing for us once we have our names right,” he said.
