Samoa drownings prompt police warning

Drownings in Samoa have led to a police warning for people to take more care when venturing out to sea during adverse weather conditions.

Two men drowned in Upolu and Savaii islands over the past week.

A 20-year-old man drowned at Luatuanuu village and the second lost his life at Vaitoomuli. Both victims have not been named.

Police Commissioner Fuiavailili Egon Keil says people should take heed of warnings issued by the weather office.

Samoa has been experiencing heavy rain and strong winds over the past few weeks prompting the weather office to issue warnings for small fishing vessels because of big swells.
