Samoa tsunami watch cancelled

The tsunami watch which was in effect for Samoa has now been cancelled.

In a message issued about 1.30pm (local time) the Samoa Meteorological Service said the tide gauge recorded 10-milimetre wave heights in Apia.

“It is advised that it is now safe as the threat is over,” the Met Service said.

Samoa had earlier issued a coastal flooding advisory following New Zealand's 8.1 magnitude quake off the Kermadec Islands this morning.
