Japan’s Yamagata Prefecture hosts Team Samoa for Tokyo 2020 pre-competition camp

Team Samoa for the Tokyo2020 will be hosted by Yamagata Prefecture for its pre-competition lead up camp.

Chef De Mission Nynette Sass joined Samoa's Ambassador to Japan, Perina Jacqueline Sila-Tualaulelei on a visit to meet with the Mayor H.E. Sato and his officials to expand on the preparations for the pre-Olympics camp prior to the opening. It was a fruitful and positive meeting.

The delegation and Samoa’s Judo team were hosted to a beautiful lunch by the mayor.

Yamagata City is currently hosting four of our Judo athletes for two weeks. This is a direct result of the relationship established by our Ambassador and is just the beginning of what will be many more similar arrangements.

Samoa’s Ambassador has been applauded for her hard work, tenacity and persistence over the past years that has established, built and nurtured this relationship to the level where it is at and will continue to flourish into the future.

The Chamber of Commerce Women's Association, led by the Chamber Vice President, Yumiko Inoue is also the self appointed Cheerleading leader. The VP hosted a tea ceremony, for the Ambassador and her delegation together with their adopted sons, Samoa’s four Judo athletes.
