The Director of Samoa Events, Seti Afoa has kicked started his events for this year.
Afoa says that it was always the intention to create a lot of activity in the early part of the year to give those who are planning for an active year, a kick start to 2017.
At the end of these mini activities there are bigger Events coming up such as the Savaii Marathon on 8th April and the international Apolima Strait 22.3km Swim on 11th April.” Said Afoa
“I have come to see a lot of serious training and goal setting from the last four weeks of activities since I returned from NZ. That is a distant memory now, and I’m enjoying seeing new people, families, swimmers and runners engaging in all the activities. Next week, we add the Triathlon, Samoa Events’ in Partnership with the Samoa Triathlon Federation kicks off the 5-Race Tri Series next Sat, 18 Feb. More on that later.” He added.
“The Magik FM People’s Run is going well. I am loving that Series. There is such amazing life there and I look forward to seeing all the kids every Wednesday at RLS Museum,
with their parents in tow. Pic of the week is from the run this week, despite the heavy threat of rain, 45 runners showed up for this week’s Magik Run. Also, it has been pleasing to see new swimmers join swim Squad on Tues/Thurs in the sea. The SE Run Series has a life of its own now. The serious runners are beginning to show their intentions for the rest of the year,” said Afoa.
Afoa further stated that the weather continues to be a challenge, and if there are no cancellations for any of the events, then it gives regular event goers the confidence that their event is on. However, there is the likelihood of an added run to the Run Series on 4th March.
This week is the Triathlon on Saturday and other activities are all lined up.
