Anthony Joshua reclaims heavyweight titles from Andy Ruiz

The 'Clash on the Dunes' in Diriyah was for the IBF, WBA, WBO and IBO titles.

The judges scored the fight 118-110, 118-110 and 119-109 to Joshua after 12 scheduled rounds.

"It was his night, man," said Ruiz as his six-month reign ended in the 15,000 seat arena on the outskirts of the capital Riyadh.

The decision to take the fight to Saudi Arabia had been criticised by human rights campaigners but Joshua complimented the hosts and welcomed Ruiz's suggestion that there should be a third encounter.

Anthony Joshua responds to 'sportwashing' Saudi human rights claims

Joshua is trying to reclaim three of the heavyweight world titles he lost to Ruiz in June by beating the American on Sunday morning in Diriyah.

Human Rights campaigners have criticised the fight's location and urged Joshua to "speak out" about issues in the country.

"In the future maybe I can bear a different kind of flag," Joshua said.

"But at the minute it's a world championship flag. I just want to do a job."

Andy Ruiz Jr finally agrees to rematch with Anthony Joshua in Saudi Arabia

British promoter Eddie Hearn announced the highly-anticipated sequel for December 7 a fortnight ago but Ruiz, the WBA, WBO and IBF champion, initially disputed the venue.

Reports suggest Mexican-American Ruiz has  been swayed by a larger cut of the revenue than his initial share of $15m for the mega-fight dubbed "Clash on the Dunes".

"I dethroned the king June 1st and made history becoming the first Mexican/American champion of the world," Ruiz wrote in a tweet confirming his acceptance.

Andy Ruiz Jr wants rematch with Anthony Joshua in Mexico

Ruiz scored a seventh round TKO victory over Joshua in New York last weekend to win the WBA, WBO and IBF belts and grab control of an increasingly heated division that includes resurgent Kiwi Joseph Parker, still the only fighter to have beaten Ruiz.

There is a rematch clause and Joshua's stunned boss Eddie Hearn immediately looked to invoke that, calling for a sequel in Britain in November-December.

But Ruiz wants to cash in on his status as Mexico's first world champion in the glamour heavyweight division and has raised the idea of a home bout.

Anthony Joshua’s Upset Loss to Andy Ruiz Scrambles Heavyweight Boxing

Anthony Joshua, a chiseled, towering, undefeated British world heavyweight champion with a wide grin and an easy disposition, came to Madison Square Garden on Saturday night to make his United States debut. He had talked before the fight about not just winning, but winning in style, and about the potential for a megafight down the road against Deontay Wilder, an undefeated world champion from the United States.

Parker new world champion

The three judges scored the fight 114-114, 115-113 and 115-113.

Parker has become the first New Zealand World Heavyweight Champion in winning the title.

The 24-year-old is now undefeated in 22 of his professional fights and holds one of the four major world titles.

Parker and Ruiz fought in front of a near-capacity crowd at Vector Arena in Auckland.

Ruiz caught Parker with a couple of bruising hits to the head in the first round as the two fighters tried to scope each other out early in the bout.

Samoa predict boxing boom if favourite son Joseph Parker wins WBO belt

Parker fights Mexico's Andy Ruiz in Auckland tonight for one of the most coveted belts in the world, one of the top four in the glamour division.

A win would launch Parker to international stardom and Samoa are ready to cash in.

Parker on the verge of history

The 24-year-old takes on American-Mexican boxer Andy Ruiz Jr for the vacant World Boxing Organisation heavyweight title at Vector Arena in Auckland.

It is the first time a major world title fight has happened in New Zealand - Jimmy Peau fought British boxer Johnny Nelson for the WBF World Heavyweight Title in Auckland in 1993 but the WBF isn't considered a major boxing organisation.

Whichever fighter wins tonight's match will become the first man from their country to win a world heavyweight title.

Samoa Delivers a Knock-Out at Parker Fight

In a sponsorship deal reported to cost USD$100K, the islands of Samoa will be featured to a worldwide audience, showing off its unique tourism offering as well as provide a taste of what’s offer for international investors.

Samoa’s majestic land and seascapes, white sand beaches, lush forests and rich culture will be showcased during the fight, with a special role for the Prime Minister, The Hon Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi who will be present to introduce the main event.

There will also be a ceremonial introduction prior to the national anthems being performed.

Parker v Ruiz tipped as fight of the year

The 24-year-old New Zealand Samoan Parker is unbeaten in 21 fights with 18 knockouts, while his opponent, Mexican-American Andy Ruiz Jr, has not lost in 29 pro bouts, including 19 knockouts.

Ruiz is coached by world renowned trainer Abel Sanchez, a man with 17 world champions to his name.

Barry himself is yet to train a world champion but he believes that'll change this weekend.

"When this fight was made, forget about being a coach, as a boxing fan, and the people I spoke to, said this fight is a great fight," he said.
