Wallabies down All Blacks in Brisbane

The third Test of the series might have been a dead rubber but Michael Cheika's men had a point to prove to their trans-Tasman enemies - and they did it, ending a run of seven straight defeats to score their first win over New Zealand since August 2015.

Australia scored three tries to two, showing new-found grit to close out the match as New Zealand mounted a late rally in front of 45,107 supporters who braved constant rain.

Two crunch second-half penalties from Reece Hodge - in the 64th and 78th minutes, both from beyond the halfway line - iced it for the Wallabies.

Brisbane outmuscle Panthers to advance

The stage was set for Brisbane's horror injury night when Queensland winger Corey Oates was heavily concussed in a sickening collision with teammate Anthony Milford in the 21st minute.

Forwards Sam Thaiday and Jai Arrow (both concussion) joined him on the sideline by the second half.

Yet Brisbane somehow still racked up their seventh-straight finals win at Suncorp Stadium to book a grand final qualifier with the Storm.

The Panthers season is over despite also bravely battling on with injury.

Heart attack shock for one half of Queensland music duo Busby Marou

The 34-year-old — one half of Busby Marou — was playing touch football in Rockhampton last week when he started feeling light-headed.

"I just thought I was puffed and unfit," he said.

"There was tightening across my chest ... it was all the things I had read about, all the signs.

"I still didn't think that was it, but I had a good crew around me that got me to the hospital."

Singers wanted for choir to beat Parkinson's

The Queensland Conservatorium Research Centre is going to put this question to the test as part of its Sing to Beat Parkinson's program.

The Australian-first study encourages program participants diagnosed with Parkinson's to sing on a weekly basis as part of a group.

Irene Bartlett from Griffith University said they would study each of the participants' lives closely to see what benefits came from singing.

"We're wanting to get empirical evidence that singing is helpful and useful for quality of life," Dr Bartlett said.

Duco Events, which promotes Horn in partnership with Bob Arum's Top Rank, was confident the fight would be held at Suncorp Stadium on April 23 in what would be one of the biggest bouts ever staged on Australian soil.

The venue had already been booked while the Queensland Government had confirmed it would reach into its pockets to host an event predicted to be seen by close to one billion boxing fans around the world.

Samoa schools thrashed in Tri-Series

Following heavy defeats to New Zealand and Australia's top teams, Samoa had high hopes of a breakthrough win but found themselves trailing 42-5 at halftime.

Vaifagaloa Mamoe scored Samoa's only first-half try, scooping up the loose ball following a dropped ball.

The Samoans opened the scoring a few minutes after halftime through left-winger Ausage Ausage before the Barbarians ran in four more tries to complete a comprehensive victory.

Head coach Etimani Faamoetauloa says more games against the trans-tasman rivals would help their development.
