Coca-Cola Amatil NZ to repay millions from Covid-19 wage subsidy

Coca-Cola Amatil, which is listed on the Australian stock exchange, confirmed while its New Zealand business did suffer the required 30 percent revenue drop during the first lockdown, it was now in a position to repay the funds.

All Coca-Cola New Zealand employees kept their jobs and were paid their full wages.

The company group expects to make a full year net profit of $340m.

People still want plastic bottles, says Coca-Cola

Customers like them because they reseal and are lightweight, said Bea Perez.

The firm, which is one of the world's biggest plastic waste polluters, has pledged to recycle as many plastic bottles as it uses by 2030.

But environmental campaigners argue many Coke bottles would still go uncollected and end up in landfill.

The drinks giant produces about three million tonnes of plastic packaging a year - equivalent to 200,000 bottles a minute.
