Solomon Islands Covid requirements lifted

The spokesperson said people travelling to Solomon Islands will no longer need to provide proof of their Covid-19 vaccination or test unless requested.

This follows the statement by the World Health Organisation that Covid-19 is no longer a global public health emergency of international concern reports RNZ Pacific.

Travellers going to Solomon Islands are still encouraged to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

China economy rebounds after pandemic measures lifted

Compared to the same period last year, gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 4.5%, official figures show.

BBC reports the key measure of economic activity was driven up by a boost in household spending and rising factory activity.

Beijing pledged to boost the world's second largest economy when it lifted coronavirus measures in December.

Also on Tuesday, separate data for March showed that retail sales, the main indicator of household consumption, jumped by 10.6%, compared to a year earlier.

One person is still in hospital care.

The border remains closed except for flights from Wallis and Futuna which is the only French-run territory without any Covid-19 case.
