US volunteers bolster teacher numbers in American Samoa

The body has previously sent volunteers to cover a teacher shortage in the territory.

The Education Director Vaitinasa Salu Hunkin-Finau says she requested 35 volunteer teachers and has given approval for 22, who are now in Pago Pago going through orientation.

Vaitinasa says the territory's public school system depends heavily on World Teach volunteers, with some of them assigned to schools in the territory's Manu'a island group but most on the main island of Tutuila.
