Jarryd Hayne sentenced to four years, nine months jail for sexual assault

ABC reports the former professional footballer will be eligible for parole in just under two years.

Hayne has faced three trials over the assault, with the first ending in a hung jury and the guilty verdict of the second quashed.

Today's sentence was lighter than his previous sentence of five years and nine months.

Mr Karan said he stands by his August statement, because none of the cult members in Fiji had breached their visa conditions.

He also accused the government of turning a blind eye to Grace Road to preserve business links.
