Manu Samoa scores massive win against South Africa in 5th place SF

The Men in Blue opened the score board scoring three consecutive tries in the first five minutes.

The tries were scored by Tanu Niulevaea, Paul Eti Slater and Owen Niue.

The Brian Liman coached side continued to break the defence line of the South Africans to score one more try and led 26-0 at halftime.

Samoa continued to score three more tries in the second half before South Africa scored the last and lone try of the match.

Samoa will now face Great Britain in the final of the 5th place play-off.


Manu Samoa to face South Africa in 5th place semifinal

This is after they went down to Argentina 12-19 in the cup quarterfinal.

Both teams displayed tough competition after Argentina opened the scoreboard with a try in the first two minutes.

Samoa wasted no time and came back to score a try through Tuna Tuitama in the next minute.

Argentina scored another try to extend their lead 14-7 at halftime.

Samoa then started the second half with a try but it was not long when Argentina bounced back with another try to seal the victory.

Samoa Sevens names new cap

Fuli Faafouina is expected to run out for his first game for Manu Sevens during the Los Angeles tournament this weekend.

Muliagatele continues to put his trust in his three co-captains - Vaafauese Apelu Maliko, Vaovasa Afa Su'a and Melani Matavao.

The team are hoping to maintain their fourth placing for the series as the top four teams at the end of the 2023 Series will have automatic qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.


Fiji to face Canada in Las Vegas 7s quarters

Fiji topped Pool D after defeating Australia 24-17 in their last pool match this morning.

It was the battle between the 2016 finalists as the Australians gave Fiji a run for their money to battle for top spot.

Fiji’s young forward and upcoming star Mesulame Kunavula was outstanding scoring two converted tries as they lead 14-12 in the first half.
