Chinese company denies approach to buy Man United stake

It has been reported by the Sunday Times that a mysterious Chinese buyer has expressed an interest in purchasing a holding in the English club, who are owned by the Glazer family.

According to the report, some of United's independent shareholders have been contacted.

However, Ping An Insurance Group distanced itself from the rumours on Monday.

"The information is false. Ping An have not been involved in any discussion on purchasing a holding in Manchester United," Ping An spokesman Sheng Ruisheng said via the 21st Century Business Herald.

De Gea stay good for me – Romero

De Gea is undoubtedly the first-choice shot-stopper at United, having made 35 Premier League starts last season.

But the Spain international is consistently linked with Madrid, the club he almost joined in August 2015.

While a De Gea exit would likely give Romero more opportunities, the Argentina goalkeeper said he wanted his team-mate to stay.

"It's better for the club that there is this competition there between me and David," he told UK newspapers.

"The truth is that there exists a great friendship between us, we work hard in order help each other out.

Mourinho wants a midfielder and winger at Man Utd

Though Mourinho would not divulge the names of his targets, Inter's Ivan Perisic and Nemanja Matic of Chelsea are thought to be at the top of his wishlist.

United have signed Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku so far in the transfer window, while Mourinho has previously suggested he may be forced to settle for just one more addition.

By comparison, Manchester City have spent an estimated £200million on six players, while Chelsea (four) and Liverpool (three) have recruited more fresh talent than United so far, but Mourinho remains calm about the situation.

Man Utd hand Sergio Romero new four-year contract

Jose Mourinho's side confirmed the 30-year-old's new terms on Sunday, his previous deal having only had a year left to run.

Romero joined United on a free transfer in 2015 and has proven to be a reliable understudy to first-choice goalkeeper David de Gea.

The Argentina international started 12 matches in United's victorious Europa League campaign last season, including the final against Ajax, and made a total of 18 appearances across all competitions.

Lukaku completes Manchester United move

The 24-year-old passed a medical in Los Angeles at the weekend shortly after United announced that they had reached an agreement with Everton over the transfer.

The Belgium international has signed a five-year deal, with the option of an additional year, to become Jose Mourinho's second signing of the transfer window, following the arrival of defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica.

Rooney thanks Manchester United

The forward secured a switch back to Goodison Park on Sunday, 13 years on from his transfer to United as an 18-year-old.

Manager Jose Mourinho and executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward spoke in glowing terms about Rooney's achievements at Old Trafford, which included winning 12 major trophies and breaking Bobby Charlton's record as the club's leading goalscorer.

Rooney models Manchester United's new home kit

Rooney fell down the pecking order at Old Trafford during Jose Mourinho's first season in charge, in which he only made 15 starts in the Premier League.

The 31-year-old rejected the chance to leave the club in January but he has been heavily linked with a move before the start of next season, with former club Everton and teams from the Chinese Super League reportedly interested.

Those rumours increased when Rooney was removed from United's Facebook cover when their away strip for upcoming season was launched last month.

Man City post classy United tribute

Goals from Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan secured a third trophy of the season for Jose Mourinho after their successes in the Community Shield and EFL Cup and sealed a return to the Champions League.

The build-up to the match was overshadowed by the terror attack at Manchester Arena on Monday, which resulted in the deaths of 22 people, including children.

Manchester held a vigil in Albert Square on Tuesday in honour of the victims and in defiance of the perpetrators, while a minute's silence was held before the start of Wednesday's match at Friends Arena in Stockholm.

Manchester United on course for Europa Cup final

United striker Marcus Rashford struck a stunning second half free- kick to secure the win and put United on course for this month's final, probably against Ajax Amsterdam after the Dutch giants beat visiting Olympique Lyonnais 4-1 in their first leg.

Until the goal United's finishing had been poor with Celta keeper Sergio Alvarez thwarting them several times.

However he was powerless to stop Rashford's 67th minute free-kick.

Man City and Man United draw 0-0

The draw keeps the race for Champions League qualification wide open.

Fellaini might have been about to receive a second booking anyway for fouling Aguero when he went head to head with City's striker and aimed a butt in the 83rd minute, earning a straight red card.

City sent on fit-again striker Gabriel Jesus in an attempt to score a late goal and the striker had a stoppage-time headed goal disallowed for offside in a tense finish at Etihad Stadium.
