The Pro-License is the global standard for elite level coaching requirement for top leagues around the world.

RNZ Pacific reports Andy Boyens, Technical Director at New Zealand Football, sees delivering this course as the next logical step for coach development in New Zealand.

He said they want coaches from NZ and Oceania to be able to go to the top level of the game.

The head of education and high performance at the confederation said as the game grows across Oceania, it is important that coaching standards improve as well.

Danny Hay new All Whites coach

The 44-year-old, who coached Eastern Suburbs to their first win of the New Zealand Premiership last year, is a former New Zealand U-17 head coach.

He's a former All Whites captain and played for the national team for 11 years.

Hay said it was a huge honour to become coach.

"I've been heavily invested in the game in this country for a very long time now, and the All Whites in particular is something that is very close to my heart having played for, and captained the side," he said.

NZF president Shaw resigns

Confirmed in a statement from NZF on Friday, the announcment comes after Shaw initially said he would not voluntarily step down when the review was made public last week.

But with the pressure mounting and calls ringing out for him to fall on his sword, Shaw has agreed to do so.

NZF vice-president Philip Barry has been appointed interim president until the organisation's next Congress in 2019.

Shaw was elected to the executive committee at the end of 2014 and as president of the governing body in June, 2015.
