North Korea murdered Kim Jong-nam, says South Korea

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's half-brother was killed at Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur airport last week.

"We believe the North Korean regime is behind this incident considering five suspects are North Koreans," said Seoul's unification ministry spokesman.

Malaysian police have already detained one North Korean and they say they are looking for four more.

Deputy national police chief Noor Rashid Ismail identified the latest North Korean suspects in a press conference on Sunday.

He said the men left Malaysia last Monday, the day Mr Kim was killed.

North Korea says ballistic missile test was a 'success'

The device was described as a "surface-to-surface medium-to-long-range ballistic missile", the Korean state news agency KCNA reported.

South Korea's defence ministry called it an armed provocation to test the response of US President Donald Trump.

North Korea's latest ballistic missile test has been widely condemned.

KCNA reported that the test of the Pukguksong-2 missile, a new type of strategic weapon said to be capable of carrying a nuclear warhead, was supervised by leader Kim Jong-un.

North Korea 'conducts ballistic missile test'

The missile was launched at 07:55 local time (22:55 GMT on Saturday) and flew east towards the Sea of Japan for about 500km, South Korean officials say.

Pyongyang has conducted a number of nuclear tests in the past year.

North Korea's repeated missile and nuclear tests and aggressive statements continue to alarm and anger the region.

Sunday's launch took place from the Banghyon air base in North Pyongan province on the west side of the Korean peninsula.

North Korea 'close to testing long-range missiles'

The intercontinental ballistic missiles were in their "last stage" of development, Mr Kim announced during his New Year's message.

Pyongyang has conducted two nuclear tests in the past year, including its biggest one to date.

UN resolutions call for an end to North Korea's nuclear and missile tests.

Mr Kim, who took control of the secretive state following his father's death in 2011, said in a televised speech: "Research and development of cutting edge arms equipment is actively progressing and ICBM rocket test launch preparation is in its last stage."

S Korea blames North for military hack

The accusation was made Tuesday in a news briefing by South Korea's Defense Ministry spokesman Moon Sang-gyun.

"We've identified that malicious codes had spread to some computers in the intranet system," he said.

"The Ministry of National Defense assembled a joint investigation team, and after the investigation, we've confirmed that some military data, including confidential information, was leaked. North Korea is assumed to be behind this," Moon told reporters.

North Korea's Nazi-style prison camps

Up to 120,000 men, women and children are imprisoned in the gulags, known as "kwanliso" in Korean, according to the United Nations.

Pyongyang officially denies that the camps exist, but multiple human rights groups have documented their ongoing operation via survivor testimony and satellite imagery.

China clamps down on Kim Jong-un 'fatty' jokes

The terms "Kim the Fat" - and variations, such as "Kim Fat III" or "Kim Fatty III" - have appeared on social media sites throughout the year, particularly on China's most popular platform, Sina Weibo.

But in response to unverified reports that North Korea had asked China to stamp out the abuse, Weibo users have been coming up with more creative names.

The latest to appear online - and it doesn't translate easily - is "Kim III half-moon". The "third" in the title refers to the fact that his late father and his revered grandfather were also called Kim.

North Korea makes first mention of US election result

The first mention of Donald Trump's victory appeared in a news report on a different matter entirely - and then only as a means to attack Pyongyang's sworn enemy, South Korea.

Hidden deep down in a commentary calling for the resignation of embattled South Korean President Park Geun-hye, state news agency KCNA refers to her ruling Saenuri Party making use of a "Trump emergency system" to divert the public's attention away from the current cronyism scandal threatening Ms Park's leadership.
