Northampton Saints sign Fiji scrum-half

The 25-year-old has 17 Test caps, playing in the 2019 World Cup and in a series against New Zealand this summer.

Lomani played 25 Super Rugby games for the Rebels and joins Fiji team-mates Sam Matavesi and Api Ratuniyarawa at Franklin's Gardens.

"I hope I can develop my skills and improve all-round on the field playing Northern Hemisphere rugby," he said.

Saints director of rugby Chris Boyd added: "Frank plays the game with a smile on his face and is capable of creating opportunities from anywhere on the park."

Northampton Saints and Fiji hooker extends Franklin's Gardens deal

The club say the 29-year-old's new deal will see him stay "for the 2021-22 season and beyond".

Matavesi has made 27 appearances for Saints since joining them from Championship club Cornish Pirates in 2019, scoring three tries.

"We've been thrilled with his development since he joined the club," said director of rugby Chris Boyd.

"We have an exciting crop of hookers in our squad who are all pushing each other to improve every day, and Sam has taken his opportunity in recent months and performed well as a starter."

Wallaby departure opens the door for former Northampton Saint to shine

Maddocks departed the Rebels earlier this month to join the Waratahs, citing a personal desire to shift home.

Kellaway was disappointed to lose his former schoolmate without playing a game together, even if it could work in his favour.

“Jack’s a huge loss, he’s a very talented player,” Kellaway said on Tuesday.

“There’s lots of depth in the outside backs but it does make life a little easier for people like me trying to break in there.”

Ashton receives 13-week ban for biting

After a lengthy hearing on Tuesday, a disciplinary panel found Ashton guilty of biting Waller during Saracens' 27-12 win in the Premiership on Saturday.

Ashton contested two counts of biting, but was found guilty of one and banned for 13 weeks.

He is free to play again on Dec. 19.

"Having considered detailed evidence the panel concluded that during the course of a ruck Chris Ashton bit the arm of Alex Waller at a time that Mr Waller was attempting to clear him out," Philip Evans QC, chairman of the disciplinary panel, said.
