Samoan female weightlifter breaks three Oceania records

The Samoa Observer reported that Feagaiga Stowers lifted 121kg in the snatch and 155kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 276kg, setting three new records for the region.

In July, Stowers will defend her Commonwealth women's over 90kg division title, which she won at the 2018 Gold Coast games.

President of the Samoa Weightlifting Federation, Tuaopepe Jerry Wallwork, said it was a fantastic performance by Feagaiga and that she is on the right path to win gold at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games.

Samoan weightlifters achieve new Oceania records

Samoa Weightlifting Association President, Tuaopepe Jerry Wallwork confirmed the new records were set at their test competition at the gym in Tuinaimato.

In the Men’s 96kg division, Don Opeloge achieved a new Oceania senior record with a snatch of 175kg.

The previous record was 165kg.

In the Men’s 109kg division, Sanele Mao set a new Oceania senior record with a snatch of 181kg with the previous record 166kg.

The Samoa Weightlifting team snatched the title for the OWF Online competition.

The team continues to train at their homebase in Tuanaimato.
