PNG Rugby Union announces women’s 7s team

Chairman Syd Yates said coach Paul Tietjens has given the wider training squad, which has been in intense training since returning from the April Hong Kong 7s, every opportunity to make the final team.

Injuries, fitness levels, performance in game situation, attitude on and off the field, commitment and dedication to training, were among the factors that were used to name the final team.

Palais end tournament on a high

In the qualifying final yesterday, the Palais fell short going down to Wales 22-7, but bounced back in the afternoon with a 22-10 win over Poland.

Australia won the Super 7s tournament with a 24-10 over Fiji in the Cup final.

The two-day tournament held over the weekend had the participation of 12 international teams including Fiji, Spain, Japan, South Africa and PNG.

The Palais will now look forward to improve before the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series 2018 - Hong Kong in April of this year.
